Native American

Some of the artifacts on display at the Museum date back to the stone age.  Among the last Native American's known to have called Carter County home were the Sioux and Northern Cheyenne.

Medicine Rocks State Park, located just 12 miles north on Hwy. 7, derived it's name from the fact that it was deemed, and continues to be, a sacred and holy place by both the Sioux and Northern Cheyenne.
